NI: New Lord Chief Justice to be appointed in September
Sir Declan Morgan’s successor as Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland will be named by the second week of September.
The Office of the Lord Chief Justice today launched a recruitment process to fill the vacancy which will arise when Sir Declan turns 70 this year.
Sir Declan will convene a selection panel which will make a recommendation to the prime minister for a suitable candidate.
In a statement, the LCJ’s office said: “It is anticipated that the new appointment will take up the post on 6 September 2021.”
