New visa requirements for Bolivians entering Ireland
Bolivian nationals will be required to obtain a visa before travelling to or through Ireland with effect from tomorrow.
Until now, Ireland — unlike the UK and Schengen countries — has not required Bolivian nationals to have a visa to enter the country.
The Department of Justice said: “The introduction of a visa requirement for Bolivian nationals at this time will bring Ireland into alignment with the visa regime applying in the UK and in the Schengen area, as Bolivian nationals are required to obtain a visa prior to travelling to these jurisdictions.
“Irish visa requirements are kept under ongoing review, having regard to the need to ensure that effective immigration controls are in place whilst also facilitating those who wish to travel to Ireland for the purposes of a visit, to work, to study or to join family members.”
