NI: Newry solicitors to embark on Christmas half-marathon for Women’s Aid NI
Two Newry solicitors are set to undertake a gruelling half-marathon on Christmas morning in support of Women’s Aid NI.
Ryan Elliott and John Murphy, both from The Elliott-Trainor Partnership Solicitors, will run 13.1 miles on Christmas Day to raise funds for the charity in Armagh and Down.
Mr Elliott said: “As solicitors in Newry, we have often witnessed the brilliant work of Women’s Aid Armagh Down in particular. We have observed many clients, many of whom have fled violence and abuse in their own homes, take back control and re-build their lives with the help and support of Women’s Aid.
“2020 has proven a heavy burden on Women’s Aid’s resources and they are currently struggling to sustain their core services. They are requesting urgent donations to continue providing basic amenities such as food vouchers and bedding for those women and children who have sought refuge.
“We will be running regardless of rain, hail or snow to raise funds for this wonderful local service.”
The pair have already raised more than £1,445 through their JustGiving page.
