NI: NI Business and Human Rights Forum to meet this month
This year’s first quarterly meeting of the Northern Ireland Business and Human Rights Forum will take place on Friday 29 January.
It will include three presentations from Chris Stewart, head of policy at DETI; Stephen Hillis of Ingeus; and Grace Peacock from the Federation of Small Business.
The agenda is set by the participants with support from the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission (NIHRC).
The presentations will focus on recent measures to promote human rights within the Northern Ireland Executive and business organisations, while Mr Stewart will also provide an overview of the work to establish the new Department of the Economy and the associated priorities and challenges.
The NIHRC will highlight developments on the preparation of the UK’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights, and its equivalent in Ireland.
The Forum aims to support business in developing an awareness of human rights and in sharing best practice and experiences of their work to respect and protect human rights.
Participation is open to large businesses and SMEs, as well as civil society organisations, NGOs, trade unions, and the government.
The meeting takes place from 10am-12.30pm at Ingeus’ premises in Belfast (Capital House, Floor 2, Suite 1, 3 Upper Queen Street, Belfast, BT1 6FB) with a lunch to follow.
Attendance can be secured by contacting Daniel Morris by Friday 22 January at daniel.morris@nihrc.org or on 028 9024 3987.
