The scammer is contacting solicitor firms in Northern Ireland and seeking to obtain their bank details. “We are aware that he called one solicitor firm multiple times seeking to speak with different staff members to try to obtain their bank details,” the Law Society said.

It is believed that the scammer is seeking law firms’ bank details in order to set up a false standing order with a bank.

The Law Society has urged firms to “warn all staff that this scammer with phone your firm, maybe multiple times, seeking bank details”. Law firms have been advised against giving out bank details over the phone to unknown callers.
