NI’s Lord Chief Justice to help pick next Chief Justice of Ireland
The Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland has been appointed to the advisory body which will help to select the next Chief Justice of Ireland.
Sir Declan Morgan will be the judicial member on the three-person non-statutory advisory committee established by ministers to help find a successor to Chief Justice Frank Clarke, who will retire on his 70th birthday in October.
He will be joined by Attorney General Paul Gallagher SC and the lay member Jane Williams of management consultancy Sia Partners.
The committee is now inviting expressions of interest with people eligible for appointment to the role under section 5 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act 1961, as amended.
The deadline for submission of expressions of interest is 6 May 2021, just over two weeks from now.
