NI: NI Secretary of State ordered to submit affidavit in Hooded Men case
The Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Theresa Villiers, has been ordered to submit an affidavit to the High Court in Belfast in the ongoing case brought by “the Hooded Men”.
The surviving members of a group of men who were allegedly tortured by the British Army during the Troubles are challenging the PSNI, the Secretary of State and the Justice Minister over claims their allegations of torture were not properly investigated.
The case has been subjected to delays as the Northern Ireland Office has asked for more time to gather documents.
Ms Villiers now has until Thursday 24 March to submit a sworn affidavit explaining the delays.
The case will return to court on Wednesday 6 April.
