Nicole Lappin appointed chair of Northern Ireland Housing Executive
Barrister Nicole Lappin has been appointed as chair of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) Board.
Mrs Lappin, who is qualified north and south of the border but no longer practising, will take up the role from 5 November 2022.
She is also chair of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Social Care Trust and has served on a number of other boards, including the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunal Services (NICTS) and as chief commissioner of the Charity Commission for NI.
The NIHE was established by the Housing Executive Act (NI) 1971 to take over the housing responsibilities of the 65 separate housing authorities that existed at that time.
It is now the overall housing authority for Northern Ireland with a budget of over £740 million and a staff of approximately 2,700. It also makes a substantial contribution to better health, education and wellbeing through housing.
