Northern Ireland barristers raise £16,000 for youth deafness charity
Barristers from the Bar Library of Northern Ireland have raised over £16,000 for their chosen charity of the year, Action Deaf Youth.
The stunning total was raised through the participation of 11 relay teams in the Belfast Marathon on Sunday 1 May.
Action Deaf Youth is the Bar of NI’s chosen charity for 2022 and works to improve the quality of life for young deaf people across Northern Ireland. They offer a range of mentoring, training and volunteer services for deaf children and their families.
Caroline Doherty, director of Action Deaf Youth, said: “We are amazed that 55 runners from the Bar gave up their Sunday to raise funds for us. As a small charity we are deeply grateful for the fantastic amount of money raised.
“This will help us to continue to deliver well-being sessions for our deaf children and young people and their families in Northern Ireland. A huge thank you to everyone who supported us.”
