Northern Ireland exam board boss wins £100,000 settlement

Northern Ireland exam board boss wins £100,000 settlement

Northern Ireland’s Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) has paid a substantial settlement to its former interim chief executive who complained of sex, race and age discrimination and constructive dismissal.

The sum paid to Margaret Farragher, who resigned in June 2022, was not disclosed but was around £100,000, according to BBC News NI.

In a statement, CCEA said the case was settled without admission of liability.

CCEA is the exams board for Northern Ireland and is a non-departmental public body (NDPB) of the Department of Education.

Ms Farragher told the BBC: “I am relieved the process is finally over. I am grateful to the many colleagues, principals, and teacher associations for their unwavering support.”
