Northern Ireland lawyers appointed to civil legal aid appeal panel
Three lawyers have been appointed to Northern Ireland’s Civil Legal Services Appeal Panel, which adjudicates appeals against civil legal aid decisions.
Séamus McIlroy, a barrister and former solicitor who served as director of legal services for the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland from 2013 to 2018, has been appointed as the presiding member of the panel.
Maeve Holland, a solicitor advocate, and Maria Mullaly, a barrister, have been appointed as ordinary members.
All three of the appointments made by justice minister Naomi Long are for a five-year term beginning 24 January 2022.
