Northern Ireland solicitor raises £13,000 for Ukraine appeal
A humanitarian appeal launched by Northern Ireland solicitor Joanna Tobolska-Walczuk and her sister has raised £13,000 for Ukrainian refugees in just two weeks.
Ms Tobolska-Walczuk, originally from Poland and now practising as a solicitor in Co Antrim, linked up with the bar association in her hometown of Lublin to distribute much-needed items to refugee centres along the Polish-Ukrainian border.
As well as a substantial amount of cash, the appeal collected donations of items including blankets and bed clothes, socks and underwear, toiletries and food.
Six lorries and one van full of donated items already offloaded in Lublin, with a seventh lorry already on its way. Some donations have gone even further and have been taken into Kyiv and Kovel in Ukraine.
Ms Tobolska-Walczuk has written to the Law Society of Northern Ireland to thank members for their ongoing support and help.
