Northern Ireland solicitor Norville Connolly has taken up a new post in Afghanistan as deputy executive director of an anti-corruption NGO.
Mr Connolly, a dual-qualified solicitor who has practised north and south of the Irish border since the 1970s, has taken up the leading role with Integrity Watch Afghanistan (IWA) in Kabul.
The Trinity College Dublin graduate started his career as an apprentice at D & E Fisher Solicitors in Newry, where he later became partner, specialising in land law and company and commercial transactions.
He was president of the Law Society of Northern Ireland in 2009-10, before completing an MPhil at postgraduate level in International Peace Studies.
The Law Society said it “wishes Norville well in his new venture”.
