O’Flynn Exhams LLP has welcomed former trainee Niamh Carey back to the firm as an associate.

The Blarney native completed her solicitor training at OFX in 2022 after studying for a bachelors in law and French at UCC and graduating with a master’s in European law from the College of Europe, Bruges.

She brings local, national and international expertise to her new role as an associate in the corporate and commercial department, having worked at a large commercial law firm in Dublin and the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg.

Working from the company’s offices on South Mall, Ms Carey will specialise in Irish and EU energy regulation, education law and data protection.

Commenting on her return, Ms Carey said: “Very few firms can offer the scope and quality of training you get at OFX and my career has really benefited from that.

“It’s great to be back. I am very proud to be in a firm I call home. I’ve seen some really positive changes since I returned. There’s been a huge expansion in recruitment for example, which is brilliant to see — lots of new trainees bring a great injection of ideas into the office.

“I also appreciate how OFX respect work/life balance and the right to disconnect — the same can’t be said of every law firm. Obviously, we always support clients to ‘get the job done’ but the company offers great flexibility.”

Shane Crossan, managing partner at O’Flynn Exhams LLP, said: “We’re delighted to have Niamh back on board. She brings a strong work ethic and a wealth of expertise that really enhance the service we provide.

“Her experience in corporate law offers a fresh perspective in our commercial practice as well as valuable insight on international clients.

“Her time in general practice gave her a deep understanding of Irish business and the positive role solicitors can play in people’s daily lives, which is an awareness that will stand to her as she works to get the best outcomes for our clients.”
