Patrick O’Connor recognised with Judge Dan Shields Memorial Award

Former Law Society of Ireland president Patrick O’Connor has been recognised with the Judge Dan Shields Memorial Award.
The award is presented annually to a Mayo solicitor who is considered by their colleagues to have made an outstanding contribution to his or her profession.
Mr O’Connor was presented with the prize at the Mayo Solicitors Bar Association (MSBA) annual dinner dance at Lisloughrey Lodge in late November 2024.

Presenting the award, MSBA president Gary Mulchrone described Mr O’Connor as an outstanding solicitor and outlined some of his many achievements in his 50 years of practice, including his presidency of the Law Society and his presidency of the MSBA.
He also highlighted Mr O’Connor’s 46 years of coronial service in the district of Mayo; his work as a notary public; his work with the Mental Health Commission, Charity Appeals Tribunal, Sports Ireland and many other boards and tribunals; and his many publications and his involvement with various charities, sporting and other philanthropic organisations.
