Peter Murphy elected chair of Employment Law Association
Dublin solicitor Peter Murphy has been elected chair of the Employment Law Association of Ireland (ELAI).
Mr Murphy, partner at O’Mara Geraghty McCourt Solicitors, was chosen to succeed outgoing chair Colleen Cleary at ELAI’s recent annual general meeting.
He previously served as deputy chair since 2016, a position now held by Anne Lyne, employment partner at Hayes Solicitors.
Claire Bruton BL was re-elected as treasurer, while Julie Galbraith of Eversheds Sutherland was elected secretary and Rithika Moora Vadeera BL was elected membership secretary.
Commenting on his election, Mr Murphy told Irish Legal News: “I am delighted to have been elected chair of the ELAI. I would like to thank outgoing chair Colleen Cleary for the commitment, energy and knowledge she showed in the role. I have some big shoes to fill but am looking forward to the challenge and am grateful for the opportunity.
“I want to continue to grow the association, both in terms of numbers and profile, to continue to provide low cost and high quality seminars and to continue our on going stakeholder engagement with the WRC.
“We have a great and active committee and I look forward to the year ahead.”
