Nearly 300 solicitor members of the Southern Law Association (SLA) attended its recent annual dinner in the Maryborough Hotel and Spa.
Guests at the dinner included members of the Cork judiciary, the president and director general of the Law Society of Ireland, presidents of sister Bar Associations, Dean of the Faculty of Law at UCC, president of the Cork Chamber, president of the Insurance Institute of Cork, and members of the Cork Bar.
Joan Bryne, solicitor at O’Flynn Exhams, delivered the keynote speech in her capacity as president of the association.
She said: “In a year when 52 per cent of the 10,000+ practising certificates issued were to female lawyers, we must ensure that this representation increases quickly, bringing with it more gender balance and diversity, accompanied by respect and equal rights and opportunities for all 100 per cent of our profession.”
