Poor box pay-outs to be published online

Poor box payments to charities are set to be published by the Courts Service in coming weeks.
In a letter, the Courts Funds Office said: “In the public interest and in the interest of greater accountability and transparency the Courts Service intends to publish all poor box payments issued on the Courts Service website.”
Meanwhile, Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan has restated his commitment to phasing out the poor box system.
According to the Irish Examiner, legislation is being drafted to replace it with a “fair, equitable and transparent” system of reparation.
