Professor David Kenny to head TCD Law School
Professor David Kenny has been elected as the next head of Trinity College Dublin School of Law.
An expert in constitutional law, Professor Kenny joined the faculty in 2012. He was elected as a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin in 2021 and promoted from associate professor to professor last year.
He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Harvard Law School and the Honorable Society of the King’s Inns, and an alumnus of the US State Department’s Fulbright programme.
He will succeed Professor Caoimhín MacMaoláin, who took on the leadership role at the height of the pandemic.
Professor Kenny told Irish Legal News: “I am honoured to be elected by my colleagues to lead the School of Law in Trinity College Dublin for the next three years, beginning this June.
“The School has an exciting development strategy, with new facilities and programmes planned, and I look forwarding to building on the progress made by my predecessors.
“We aim to further strengthen our long tradition of excellence in legal education — preparing our students to excel in the ever-changing world of legal practice and many other careers — while continuing to engage in legal research and public outreach at the highest levels.”
