Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin named as candidate for UN terror post
Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin has been named as a candidate for UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism.
The special rapporteur appointments are set to be confirmed at the 35th session of the UN Human Rights Council from 6-23 June 2017.
Professor Ní Aoláin is Professor of Law and Associate Director at Ulster University’s Transitional Justice Institute (Belfast).
She also holds a joint appointment as Robina Chair in Law, Public Policy and Society at the University of Minnesota Law School.
