Professor Niamh Moloney appointed to UK financial regulator
Professor Niamh Moloney has been appointed to the UK’s Prudential Regulation Committee (PRC) for a three-year term.
The PRC takes the most important decisions of the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), one of the UK’s financial regulators.
Professor Moloney is professor of financial markets law at LSE Law School as well as an independent non-executive director of the board of the Central Bank of Ireland.
A graduate of Trinity College Dublin and Harvard Law School, she specialises in financial regulation, institutional structures and supervision.
She is one of two new appointments to the PRC alongside David Soanes, former UK country head at UBS.
Rachel Reeves, the UK chancellor, said: “I am pleased to announce the appointments of David Soanes and Niamh Maloney to the Prudential Regulation Committee of the Bank of England.
“Both appointments will bring extensive experience of financial services to the role, and will support the regulators renewed focus on growth.”
