Prosecution budget to grow to €72m
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is to see its budget grow to €72 million.
The €11 million boost in Budget 2025 brings the office’s budget to a record high, having increased by 40 per cent in five years.
Taoiseach Simon Harris said today: “Budget 2025 saw a step change in the funding of the justice system. For the first time, investment reached €4 billion.
“I am pleased to confirm the Department of the Taoiseach secured a significant increase in support for the Office of the DPP.
“The number of cases being referred to the DPP has been steadily rising. It is vital the office has the tools it needs to ensure the speedy delivery of justice.
“This investment means the budget for the office has increased by 40 per cent since 2020.”
