Reforms to PIAB application process now in effect
New requirements for applications to the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) have come into effect as of today.
Claimants are now required to provide their Personal Public Service Number (PPSN) or another form of ID, and to sign their application forms.
A new application form is now available from the PIAB website and new applications using the old form will no longer be accepted.
The changes mark the commencement of the second phase of the Personal Injuries Resolution Board Act 2022.
Announcing the changes earlier in the year, Dara Calleary, minister of state for trade promotion, digital and company regulation, said they will “reduce the potential for identity fraud and ensure accuracy in relation to payment of resolved claims”.
The third and final phase of the Act, which will include the introduction of a mediation service, is expected before the end of the year.
