Release of State papers delayed due to Covid-19
State papers from 1990 which would have been released this year under the 30-year rule will not be transferred to the National Archives until 2021.
The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht said it will not be able to unseal papers this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, The Irish Times reports.
Historians have expressed disappointment in the decision as government papers in London and Belfast are still expected to be released as usual.
The Department said it will work with other government departments to have the Irish papers released “in early 2021”.
