Retired solicitor Brian O’Donnell exits bankruptcy
Retired Dublin solicitor and former property tycoon Brian O’Donnell exited bankruptcy yesterday, The Irish Times reports.
Ms Justice Costello formally discharged him from bankruptcy at a sitting of the High Court yesterday.
Mr O’Donnell and his wife, Mary Patricia, were judged bankrupt by the High Court in August 2013 in a finding confirmed by the Supreme Court in February 2015.
Bank of Ireland applied to have the pair declared bankrupt after they failed to satisfy a €71.57 million judgment against them over unpaid loans.
Mr O’Donnell’s bankruptcy was extended in July 2016 by following a successful application by his official assignee in bankruptcy, Chris Lehane, for alleged non-cooperation.
The High Court yesterday heard that Mr Lehane did not want to extend the bankruptcy further. Mrs O’Donnell had already exited bankruptcy.
