Retired solicitor Brian O’Donnell to exit bankruptcy this month
Retired Dublin solicitor and former property tycoon Brian O’Donnell is set to exit bankruptcy later this month, The Irish Times reports.
Mr O’Donnell and his wife, Mary Patricia, were judged bankrupt by the High Court in August 2013 in a finding confirmed by the Supreme Court in February 2015.
Bank of Ireland applied to have the pair declared bankrupt after they failed to satisfy a €71.57 judgment against them over unpaid loans.
Mr O’Donnell’s bankruptcy was extended in July 2016 by following a successful application by his official assignee in bankruptcy, Chris Lehane, for alleged non-cooperation.
The High Court heard the official assignee does not want to extend his bankruptcy any further. Mrs O’Donnell has already exited bankruptcy.
Solicitor Blake O’Donnell, who represents his father, said his father wanted the next hearing brought forward from October.
Mr Justice Charles Meenan agreed to list the matter in late August.
