Nicholas Comyn
Retired solicitor Nicholas Comyn, a lawyer at Ronan Daly Jermyn for over four decades, has been elected president of the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU).
He was elected to fill the highest office in Irish rugby after a long and distinguished contribution to the game as a player, referee and administrator.
Mr Comyn was introduced to rugby at Clongowes Wood College and played with his native Mallow, UCD, Palmerston and Cork Constitution, and was capped frequently by Munster as a junior interprovincial centre/winger between 1966 and 1970.
He later became synonymous with Sunday’s Well RFC, holding the office of club president three times, and has created club history by becoming the first member since the club’s foundation in 1906 to be elected president of the IRFU.
Mr Comyn practised as a solicitor with Ronan Daly Jermyn from 1970 to 2013, latterly as a partner, before retiring from the law.
