Ruthven Gemmell elected CCBE president for 2017
Ruthven Gemmell has been elected as president of the Council of Bars and Law Socities of Europe (CCBE).
Mr Gemmell is a past president of the Law Society of Scotland and will take up the role of CCBE president on 1 January 2017.
He said it is “a tremendous honour to have been elected as president of the CCBE, representing more than a million lawyers across Europe”.
Mr Gemmell added: “It’s important that we have the opportunity to come together to share information, discuss common issues and develop an understanding of neighbouring jurisdictions, particularly during this time of enormous economic and political change.”
