Scotland: Settlement looms in Celtic Boys Club cases
There has been “significant progress” in the proposed settlement over claims of historical abuse at Celtic Boys Club.
A judge allowed a group claim to proceed against Celtic last year over alleged abuse at Celtic Boys Club, which was established as a feeder to the senior side in 1966, Scottish Legal News reports.
Thompsons Solicitors said the valuation of all cases has progressed.
A spokesperson added: “We do not yet have all necessary evidence to commence settlement negotiations and so the court has granted a further short sist of four months to allow opportunity to do so given the complexities of this task.”
Celtic has always claimed that it was not responsible for the boys’ club, which it said was an “entirely different organisation”.
But lawyers acting for the boys club said that Celtic was vicariously liable as it was “intimately connected”.
