International law firm Simmons & Simmons has hired Declan O’Sullivan as a partner in its Dublin funds practice.

Mr O’Sullivan brings three decades of experience to the firm, which he is joining from the Dublin office of a US-headquartered international law firm.

His experience includes advising domestic and global clients on the establishment and authorisation of multiple investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity funds, UCITS, and property funds and management companies.

He also has expertise in private credit and insurance solutions, having advised on many such structures and transactions, as well as a commitment to pro bono work.

Mr O’Sullivan is a member of the Council of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA).

His appointment will boost the capability of the firm’s Dublin funds practice, which includes partners Niamh Ryan and James McKnight.

Ms Ryan, who heads the funds team, said: “We’re thrilled to have secured a partner of Declan’s calibre in our Dublin funds team.

“Declan has a stellar 30-year track record, with an excellent set of international contacts across the industry.

“We’re passionate about the continued growth of the practice, and expanding the reach of our global client base even further. With his wide experience, Declan will help us do just that.”

Mr O’Sullivan addded: “Simmons has an outstanding reputation in the funds space, and I’m pleased to have joined its highly-regarded Dublin team.

“The firm has a strong collaborative culture and a formidable global network, both of which I’m excited to tap into.

“I’m confident my breadth of expertise and experience will help the practice to meet its ambitious expansion goals.”
