Snow and ice bring courts to a grinding halt
Courthouses in counties Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath were closed this morning after Met Éireann issued a Status Red weather alert.
They will remain closed on Thursday and Friday, the Courts Service of Ireland has said.
The Law Society of Ireland is also closed and the Law Society’s education centre has urged students not to attend lectures today, though Law Library services are operating as usual.
Ireland and much of Europe was carpeted in snow and ice overnight after a polar vortex dubbed the “Beast from the East” brought cold temperatures from over the Atlantic. It is set to intensify later this week.
