Solicitor alleged to have smuggled phone into prison
A solicitor at a Dublin-based legal practice will potentially face prosecution over allegations that she smuggled a mobile phone into prison for a client, The Irish Times reports.
The unnamed lawyer has not been charged, but a file has been prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) following her arrest and subsequent interview last year.
It is reported that the client gave the name of the solicitor to gardaí after he was caught with the phone in prison and asked how he acquired it.
The Irish Daily Mail reports the solicitor has taken “a break” from the profession pending the outcome of any prospective action against her.
The alleged offence carries a punishment of up to five years imprisonment.
