Southern Law Association recognises first woman solicitor in Cork
The Southern Law Association has recognised the first woman to be admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Cork.
Finola Foley (née O’Connor), the wife of Frank Foley of O’Connor & Foley Solicitors, qualified as a solicitor in January 1931.
Her daughter Felicity Foley, who recently retired as a solicitor and has been a long-standing member of the SLA, has presented the association with a painting in memory of her mother.
The painting was received by Law Society president Michele O’Boyle and SLA president Robert Baker, and will be displayed in the solicitor’s room of the Washington Street courthouse in the city.
