Students invited to take part in McCann FitzGerald legal app hackathon
McCann FitzGerald is inviting students from third level institutions to take part in a brand-new competition, the Legal Apps Hackathon, the first-ever legal hackathon to use AI technology.
With a prize fund of €2,000 for the winning team, students have just 24 hours to develop an innovative legal app using Neota Logic AI.
Students from all educational backgrounds are invited to participate in the Legal Apps Hackathon with finalists challenged to design and build an expert automated app that gives tailored guidance to users on a complex legal question based on one of six legal topics.
Barry Devereux, managing partner at McCann FitzGerald, said: “We are really excited to announce the Legal Apps Hackathon.
“There have been a number of legal hackathons organised previously but this is the first event that will use AI technology with competing students having to use the award-winning expert system development platform, Neota Logic, to develop their app.”
Mr Devereux added: “The future of law is not solely dependent on legal professionals as we need a variety of backgrounds to continue to drive innovation in our profession.”
Entries are open to any third level student until Tuesday 27 February. Students can apply as either a single applicant or in teams of two to four with single applicants grouped into teams based on complimenting backgrounds. Finalists will then work in their teams with the support of one of the firm’s associates or legal solution architects.
Applications can be registered on the McCann FitzGerald website.
