Susan Denham to receive inaugural Hibernian Law Medal
The inaugural Hibernian Law Medal will be bestowed upon Ms Justice Susan Denham and top judges from the UK and Canada at a ceremony next month.
Lord Neuberger, former president of the UK Supreme Court, and Beverley McLachlin, former Chief Justice of Canada, are the other recipients of the Hibernian Law Journal’s new award.
It will be awarded each year to “individuals who have made outstanding contributions, in any combination, to the advancement of justice, the integrity of the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary and the legal profession, and public access to and understanding of the legal system; whether in Ireland or in a comparable jurisdiction”.
This year’s recipients will accept their medal at a formal ceremony at the Law Society of Ireland on Friday 11 May 2018 at 6.30pm.
The three judges will deliver acceptance speeches recounting their judicial experiences, engage in a panel discussion and answer questions from the audience. The event is free and open to all.
