Teachers’ pay dispute to be heard by European Court of Justice
An equal pay claim by two Irish teachers is due to be considered by the European Court of Justice (ECJ).
The case concerns two members of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) who say that they suffered indirect age discrimination by being placed on lower salaries.
It was referred to the ECJ by the Labour Court at the end of February but has only now been made public, the Irish Examiner reports.
The ECJ will assess the case against EU equality directives and treaties.
