Temporary Cork courts accommodation causing ‘mayhem’
Temporary accommodation for Cork’s District and Circuit family courts is causing “mayhem” according to a survey of local family lawyers, The Irish Times reports.
A majority of Cork Family Lawyers Association members who responded to a survey complained that the Court Chambers building, which is being used during courthouse redevelopment, does not provide enough privacy, consultation space, waiting areas or accessibility.
Noel Doherty of Fitzgerald Solicitors told The Irish Times that he was concerned about safety where high numbers of people congregated in one area.
The Courts Service of Ireland reportedly met with a number of family law practitioners earlier this week to discuss their concerns.
However, it went on to describe the reported complaints as “short-lived teething problems” and said lawyers would become more familiar with the new set-up.
