Three nominated for Circuit Court and District Court benches
A barrister and two solicitors have been nominated by ministers for appointment to judicial posts.
Elva Duffy SC has been nominated for appointment as a Circuit Court judge, filling the vacancy arising from the retirement of Judge Patrick Meghan earlier this month.
Solicitors Ciaran Liddy and Susan Fay have been nominated for appointment as District Court judges, filling the vacancies arising from the sudden passing of Judge Seamus Hughes in July and the retirement of Judge Victor Blake later that month.
The government said it has “taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nomination in accordance with constitutional practice”.
Ms Duffy is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and the King’s Inns. She called to the bar in 1997 and was one of 27 barristers called to the Inner Bar earlier this month.
Mr Liddy is a graduate of NUI Galway with a certificate in criminal litigation from the Law Society. Ms Fay studied at University College Dublin and holds a diploma in family law from the Law Society.
