Tralee Courthouse could move to site of former Denny factory
The Courts Service of Ireland is considering plans to relocate Tralee Courthouse from Ashe Street to the site of the former Denny Bacon Factory at the Island of Geese, The Kerryman reports.
The Courts Service has reportedly given up on previous plans to move the court to a purpose-built complex at the Ballymullen Barracks.
Members of Kerry Law Society have criticised the proposal for a new building, suggesting that the existing premises could be renovated.
Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan described the courthouse as “dilapidated” and “not fit for purpose” on a visit last month.
