Tralee solicitor Pa Daly becomes Sinn Féin’s justice spokesperson
Tralee solicitor Pa Daly has been appointed as Sinn Féin’s justice spokesperson.
Mr Daly, who has served as TD for Kerry since the 2020 general election, has been promoted in a frontbench reshuffle in anticipation of the next election, which will take place within the next two years.
A graduate of University College Dublin (UCD), Mr Daly qualified as a solicitor in 1996. He spent some time in the US working for the Georgia Indigent Defense Council before returning to Ireland.
In 2002 and 2003, Mr Daly travelled to Colombia to act as the independent legal observer for the Colombia Three — Irish men who were acquitted of training left-wing rebels in the Latin American country on behalf of the Provisional IRA.
He established his own solicitor’s practice in Rock Street, Tralee in 2003.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald said Mr Daly, who joins the frontbench for the first time, “will bring his extensive experience as a solicitor to the justice brief”.
She added: “This is the team that will lead Sinn Féin into the next general election — a team full of talent, experience and ambition and bursting with the energy to deliver; a team that is ready to deliver change in government.”
