Tributes paid to Mr Justice Moriarty on retiring from the bench
Tributes have been paid to Mr Justice Michael Moriarty on his retirement from the High Court bench, The Irish Times reports.
Attorney General Séamus Woulfe extended thanks on behalf of the State for his 31 years of public service, including his chairing of the Moriarty Tribunal between 1997–2010.
The 71-year-old Belfast-born judge called to the Bar in 1968, joined the High Court in 1996, and was appointed to the tribunal a year later.
Tributes were also paid by Paul McGarry SC for The Bar of Ireland; Law Society president Michael Quinlan; Supt Anne Markey of An Garda Síochána; Ursula Fernee of the Probation Service; Elisha D’Arcy for the Courts Service; Moriarty Tribunal registrar Siobhán Hayes; and High Court chief registrar Kevin O’Neill.
