NI: Tughans raises £7,000 for leading cancer charity
Staff at Belfast firm Tughans have raised £7,000 for Action Cancer, Northern Ireland’s leading local cancer charity, over the past year.
Maria O’Loan, partner at Tughans, said the firm was “thrilled to be able to contribute in this way to Action Cancer as cancer is something that can affect anyone at any time throughout their lives”.
Thanking and congratulating staff members who participated and contributed, Ms O’Loan said: “Action Cancer is a very worthwhile charity and we have had a lot of fun raising this money through a range of activities including the Action Cancer Bra Walk, a number of cycling challenges, a quiz and even a bush tucker trial.
“As a firm, Tughans has a real sense of community and we try to do as much as we can to support local charities. We also carry out pro bono work for charities and last year we helped out with the setting up of the NI Air Ambulance which was a big highlight for us.”
Gillian Thomson, corporate fundraising officer at Action Cancer, added: “Action Cancer is extremely thankful for the yearlong support and dedicated support of Tughans staff.
“This £7,000 will go a long way towards Action Cancer’s prevention, detection and support services, helping to save lives and support people affected by cancer across Northern Ireland.
“Action Cancer offers a range of services including breast screening, health checks, counselling and therapeutic services.”
