NI: Tughans takes two accolades at NI Dealmakers Awards
Tughans has scored two major accolades at Insider magazine’s Northern Ireland Dealmakers Awards 2016.
The Belfast-based law firm claimed the title of Corporate Law Firm of the Year 2016 and its corporate partner John McGuckian was hailed as Young Dealmaker of the Year 2016.
Tughans said its corporate team, led by John-George Willis, had been recognised for an ongoing period of successful deals, including the acquisition of H&J Martin by Lagan Construction, the sale of Sawyers Transport, the disposal of Hospital Services to Foresight Group and the sale of Moy Park to JBS.
Mr McGuckian, who became a partner at Tughans in July 2015, was described by judges as “the outstanding candidate due to his skill at assembling specialist transaction teams and for his involvement in many of the venture capital and private equity deals in the region”.
The awards recognise Northern Ireland’s top corporate finance professionals, funders and lawyers. Shortlists for each category are drawn up by an independent judging panel and based on votes cast by business professionals.
Patrick Brown, managing partner at Tughans, said: “We were delighted to win two such prestigious awards coming so quickly after being named top of the Experian Deal and Advisors League Table 2015.
“These accolades are testament to the dedication and professionalism of our team and worthy recognition of the value of the strategic advice given to our clients to complete landmark deals.
“Our 120th anniversary year could not have been given a better start.”
