Two solicitors nominated for appointment as District Court judges
Two solicitors have been nominated for appointment as ordinary judges of the District Court.
Ministers agreed at a meeting this week to nominate Máire Conneely and Brendan O’Reilly for the vacancies arising from the retirements of Judge Patrick Durcan and Judge Terence J. W. Finn.
Ms Conneely is a graduate of NUI Galway (NUIG) and qualified as a solicitor in 2001.
Mr O’Reilly is a graduate of University College Galway (now NUIG) and University College Dublin (UCD). He qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and as a solicitor in Northern Ireland in 1994.
The government has taken the necessary steps to formally advise President Higgins of the nominations in accordance with constitutional practice.
