Ulster University students Conán McGowan and Níall McGrattan have triumphed in the 2025 Northern Ireland regional heat of the Client Consultation Competition.
The Law Society of Northern Ireland hosted the contest, which focused on consumer contracts, at Law Society House in Belfast on Friday 31 January 2025.
All Northern Ireland law schools contributed a team, with the winners hailing from the Magee Campus at Ulster University.
Ulster University’s Belfast campus was separately represented by Conor Nicholas and Hannah Willis, coached by Melissa McKee.
The Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS) was represented by Nikita Murphy and Gemma Ross, coached by Stuart Harper.
Queen’s University Belfast was represented by Kenneth Elo and Lucy Wade, coached by Dr McTaggart.
Mr McGowan and Mr McGrattan will now go forward to compete in the 2025 Brown Mosten International Client Consultation Competition in Scotland, hosted by the University of Glasgow from 9-12 April 2025.
The Society will make a financial contribution towards their attendance.
The judging panel for the regional heat was chaired by Niall Hargan of Carson McDowell and included Tony Caher of Campbell and Caher (who composed the scenario), Catherine Nixon of the Departmental Solicitor’s Office and Shauna Thompson of the Law Society.
