US law firms in London offering recruitment bonuses of £38k
Junior lawyers are being offered bonuses of £38,000 for referring their friends for jobs, as the talent war in London continues.
The bonuses are on top of salaries for NQs which start at £180,000 at Paul Weiss and £164,000 at Kirkland & Ellis. The referral scheme at Kirkland & Ellis has been extended until next January.
Edward Stratford, co-founder of Fort Stratford Partners, a London-based legal recruitment agency, said: “Law firms are in a strong financial position – they’ve all posted pretty strong financial results and lateral hiring remains a top strategy for growth.
“You either grow organically, through a merger or through lateral hiring.”
Almost all magic circle firms have raised salaries for NQs to £150,000 after facing competition from their American rivals.
