Warrenpoint and Limavady solicitors appointed as notaries public
Two solicitors have been appointed as notaries public by the Lady Chief Justice of Northern Ireland.
Warrenpoint solicitor Rosemary Connolly and Limavady solicitor Caroline McConnell were appointed to the office with effect from yesterday.
There are now 36 notaries public in Northern Ireland who can, among other things, administer oaths and affirmations, take affidavits and statutory declarations, and witness and authenticate the execution of certain classes of documents.
Mrs Connolly, principal of Rosemary Connolly Solicitors, told Irish Legal News: “I am delighted to be appointed as notary public and admitted therefore to the College of Notaries in Northern Ireland.
“Notaries public perform important functions in relation to the administrations of oaths and statutory declarations, in witnessing and authenticating documents as well as witnessing documents for use abroad.
“I hope that the presence of a notary public in my home base of Warrenpoint will be a useful addition to the community here.”
Ms McConnell is a partner at W.B. Thompson & Co Solicitors in Limavady, Co Derry.
Derry solicitor William McCleery was previously appointed as notary public in August.
