William Fry’s intellectual property team has walked away with two awards at the prestigious Managing IP Awards 2025 in London.

The firm was named Irish Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year for the third year running, as well as winning Europe Impact Case of the Year for its work on Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC v Clonmel Healthcare Limited C-149/22.

The Managing IP Awards, held last night at the Royal Lancaster London, are one of the most widely respected intellectual property awards events in the legal sector, recognising outstanding achievements in IP across more than 50 jurisdictions.

The Irish Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year award acknowledges William Fry’s IP team’s market-leading position, especially in relation to contentious matters.

The Europe Impact Award recognises the firm’s work on Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC v Clonmel Healthcare Limited C-149/22, a very significant case involving the interpretation of Article 3(a) and Article 3 (c) of the SPC Regulation, where the William Fry team was led by Laura Scott with Colette Brady.

William Fry managing partner Stephen Keogh said: “These awards are a testament to the exceptional capabilities and dedication of our IP team.

“Winning two awards, one of them for the third consecutive year, underscores our market-leading position, the best-in-class service we offer our clients and our IP team’s ability to handle complex and sophisticated cases and matters.”
