Woman scalded on Ryanair flight awarded €55k

A woman has been awarded €55,000 in damages in the Circuit Court after being scalded on a Ryanair flight.

Lidija Miliute, 26, suffered extensive second degree burns after tea spilled on her during a flight from Lithuania to Ireland on 28 March 2022, The Irish Times reports.

She was represented in court by Conor Kearney BL and solicitor Mark Tiernan of Tiernan Solicitors.

Judge James O’Donohoe found no contributory negligence on Ms Miliute’s part and awarded her €55,000 in damages.

However, he granted a stay on the order pending Ryanair’s consideration of an appeal to the High Court.
