Women lawyers association to host referendum information night
The Irish Women Lawyers Association (IWLA) has organised an information seminar in advance of the referendum on repealing the Eighth Amendment.
Fiona De Londras, deputy head of Birmingham Law School, and Mairead Enright, senior lecturer in law at Birmingham, will speak at the event next Wednesday.
Professor De Londras and Ms Enright recently launched a website that aims to share accurate information about the vote.
The aim of the IWLA’s seminar is to “inform attendees about the legal status of the Eighth Amendment, the operation of the law around the 8th Amendment and how that would change if it is repealed following the referendum vote”, the organisers told Irish Legal News.
The event at The Legal Eagle, 1-2 Chancery Place, Inns Quay, Dublin 1 begins with a wine reception at 6pm and the seminar at 6.30pm.
Tickets are free for IWLA members and €10 for non-members, and guests can register their attendance with the IWLA on events@iwla.ie.
